COMMUNITIES MOST AFFECTED BY HIV: Race/Ethnicity

Race/Ethnicity

Black and Latinx people only make up about 31% of the population in the Unites States. However, these communities are two of the most affected by HIV:

  • Latinx and Black people made up 70% of all new HIV cases in 2018. 

  • Black men make up the largest percentage of new infections.

  • HIV infections in Black women are 4 times higher than Latinx women and 13 times higher than  White women.
