UNDERREPRESENTATION LEADS TO LONG DELAYS IN ACCESS TO NEW THERAPIES

New treatments are often not approved for use with teens until they have been tested in clinical trials with teens. Because of this, there are delays in approval for these treatments when minors are not included in these research studies. These delays create differences in teens’ ability to receive new treatments that can prevent serious health issues, like HIV.
